Mud Non-landing System

Drilling solids control is a mud mixing and slurrying system that is matched with the drilling rig, while mud prevention is the back-end equipment of the drilling solids control system, which is mainly used to handle the waste drill cuttings after being processed by the drilling solids control system.

The drilling mud solids control system primarily consists of equipment such as a shale shaker, vacuum degasser, integrated sand and mud remover, drilling fluid centrifuge, mud agitator, and jet dosing funnel. These solids control devices filter and separate the drill cuttings from the return mud, collecting the useful mud in a mixing tank for future use. The mud and drill cuttings separated by filtration become drilling waste, or drilling waste, and are discharged into the mud pit.

However, according to current environmental regulations, drilling waste slurry after solids control treatment is classified as hazardous waste. Disposal is prohibited and requires special treatment. Traditional mud pits are no longer suitable, requiring specialized mud-free systems.

The mud non-landing system consists of a cuttings dryer and a decanter centrifuge. A screw conveyor transports the waste slurry from drilling solids control to the cuttings dryer for drying and separation. The dried cuttings have a very low moisture content and can be packaged and transported to a dedicated hazardous waste treatment station. The discarded mud and water are then processed in the cuttings centrifuge for reuse.

At present, mud non-landing system includes water-based mud non-landing system and oil-based mud non-landing system. Both are determined by the mud treatment system adopted in the drilling process.

Oil-based mud non-landing system

Oil-based mud not falling to the ground is mainly for directional wells and ultra-deep wells. Directional wells and ultra-deep wells require oil-based mud systems to mix mud. Oil-based mud contains expensive diesel or white oil. Oil-based drill cuttings treated by the drilling solids control system still contain oil mud. If the mud is not treated, it will cause mud waste and increase drilling costs.

Water-based mud non-landing system

Water-based mud that does not fall to the ground is mainly designed for shallow wells. Water-based mud is mainly prepared by adding soil and chemicals or industrial salt. The drilling waste generated by the solids control system using water-based mud drilling system also contains effective mud. If it is not treated, it will also cause mud waste and needs to be recycled through mud-free treatment.
